Citation Appeals

All parking citation appeals are heard and reviewed by the Parking Committee, which is made up of faculty, staff and students of the University of Idaho. Decisions of this committee regarding parking citations may be appealed to the Assistant Vice President of Auxiliary Services. (See Faculty Staff Handbook sections 2640.66, 6120 and 6940 for more information regarding the parking committee).

NOTIFICATION OF THE COMMITTEES' DECISION MAY TAKE UP TO 6 WEEKS.

Before appealing your citation please consider the following:

1. Lack of knowledge of the parking regulations does not constitute a valid excuse, current regulations are found HERE.

2. If an emergency or extenuating circumstance is used for an appeal, evidence must be submitted at the time of appeal, examples of proper evidence would be medical notes, receipts, tow receipts, etc...

3. No member of the Committee with any personal connection to a particular case or individual will be allowed to participate in the determination of that case.

The following appeal reasons are most often unsuccessful:

1. "I was running late, the meter just ran out"

2. "Yes I parked illegally because there were no parking spaces available"

3. "I didn't know I couldn't park there"

4. "The fine is too high"

5. "I was only there for a minute; I left my hazard lights on"
