IMPORTANT: READ BEFORE PURCHASING PERMIT: All 2009 - 10 permits are valid August 1, 2009 - August 1, 2010. Permit ownership is non-transferrable; permits may be used in any vehicle that is transporting the permit owner. Under the permit holder's discretion, an individual who IS ELIGIBLE for the permit type may utilize that permit; however, the permit owner is responsible for all parking citations issued to that permit number. Using a permit that an individual is not eligible for may result in a $125 citation for illegal use.

COMMUTER PERMITS: Validate parking between the hours of 6 a.m. and 2 a.m., unless posted otherwise
GOLD: Gold permits are available for purchase by board appointed faculty and staff only. Any employee who leaves a board appointed position is no longer eligible to use a Gold permit. Gold permits are valid in all Gold, Red and Blue parking lots on campus. Gold permits are NOT valid in meters, any specially marked space or on the campus walkway system.
RETIREE: Complimentary Retiree permits are available for retired University of Idaho employees and spouses. Retiree permits are only to be used by the retiree or retirees spouse; other family members, UI employees and students are not eligible to use a Retiree permit. Improper use of the permit constitutes illegal use. Retiree permits function as a Gold permit and are valid in all Gold, Red and Blue lots on campus. Retiree permits are NOT valid in Silver, Purple or Green lots, meters, any specially marked space or on the campus walkway system.
RED: Red permits are available for purchase by any University of Idaho faculty, staff or student. Red permits are valid in all Red and Blue lots on campus. Red permits are NOT valid in Gold, Silver, Purple or Green lots, meters, any specially marked space, or on the campus walkway system.
BLUE: Blue permits are available for purchase by any University of Idaho faculty, staff, student or frequent visitor. Blue permits are valid in all Blue lots on campus. Blue permits are NOT valid in any other colored lot, meters, any specially marked space, or on the campus walkway system.
RESIDENTIAL PERMITS: Validate parking 24 hours for current residents
PURPLE: Purple permits are available for purchase by CURRENT Greek members who live IN HOUSE only. Off campus Greek members are not eligible to purchase or use Purple permits. Purple permits are also available for purchase by Targhee Hall and Steel House residents. If Targhee Hall, Steel House residents or a fraternity or sorority member moves off campus or elsewhere, they are no longer eligible to use a Purple permit, permit must be returned or exchanged. IN HOUSE Greek members must be made eligible to purchase a Purple permit by the house president. Purple permits are valid in all Purple, Silver and Blue lots on campus. Purple permits are NOT valid in Gold, Red or Green lots, meters, any specially marked space, or on the campus walkway system.
SILVER: Silver permits are available for purchase by current residents of University Housing (Wallace Complex, Theohilus Tower, McConnell Hall and the LLC's). To be eligible to purchase a Silver permit, housing agreements must be completed. If an individual moves out of University Housing they are no longer eligible to use a Silver permit; permit must be returned or exchanged. Silver permits are valid in all Silver, Purple and Blue lots on campus. Silver permits are NOT valid in Gold, Red or Green lots, meters, any specially marked space, or on the campus walkway system.
GREEN: Green permits are available for purchase by CURRENT residents of Elmwood apartments, Graduate Student Residences (GSR) and Family Housing (FH). To be eligible to purchase a Green permit, housing agreements must be completed. If a resident of Elmwood apartments, GSR or FH moves elsewhere they are no longer eligible for a Green permit; permit must be returned or exchanged. Green permits are specific to Elmwood, GSR and FH, and are only valid in Green lots located at permit owners' place of residence. Green permits are also valid in blue lots. Green permits are NOT valid in Gold, Red, Silver or Purple lots, meters, any specially marked space, or on the campus walkway system.
ANNUAL PERMITS; available in office only
DISABILITY: Annual University of Idaho Disability permits are available to UI faculty, staff or students who provide proof of identification and current registration for a state issued isability permit or disability license plates. A state issued disability permit, or disability license plates must accompany a University of Idaho annual disability permit when parking on campus. Current registration for a state issued disability permit and proof of identification must be provided to the disability permit office in the Student Union Building prior to receiving a disability permit. University of Idaho annual disability permits are valid in all designated disability spaces on campus, designated valid campus walkway spaces on the walkway, meter spaces (with no payment required), timed spaces (with no time restrictions), and regular spaces in all colored lots. Disability permits are NOT valid in service/delivery spaces, reserved spaces, areas not designated as a parking space, overnight in areas posted "No Parking 2am - 6am". Permit may be used only when the permit owner is operating the vehicle or is a passenger. Use of a disability permit by an individual who is not the permit owner constitutes illegal use. EMT/FIRE GOLD: EMT/FIRE gold permits are available for purchase by volunteer Fire or EMT officials only. EMT/FIRE gold permits are valid in all gold, red and blue parking lots on campus. These permits are NOT valid in meters, any specially marked space or on the campus walkway system.
FAMILY HOUSING VISITOR: Family housing visitor permits are available for purchase by CURRENT residents of Family Housing who have purchased or are eligible to purchase a family housing green permit, limit is one per apartment. Family housing visitor permits are intended for use by occasional visitors of residents in family housing. Family housing visitor permit may not be used for 10 or more consecutive days of parking. These permits are not to be used in any vehicle owned or operated by a resident of family housing. Improper use of the permit constitutes illegal use and may result in revocation of the visitor permit. Family housing visitor permits are only valid in green family housing parking lots. Family housing visitor permits are only available for purchase in the parking office, they are not available online.
SPECIFIC LOT GOLD: A determined number of gold permits will be made available to temporary or part-time University of Idaho employees and students during the last week of September each fall semester. Surveying is conducted during the first weeks of the semester to determine a number to release. Specific lot gold permits are only valid in three gold lots; lot 14 (power plant), lot 56 (6th and Rayburn) and lot 19 (North of Law School). Specific lot gold permits are also valid in all red and blue lots on campus. Specific lot gold permits are NOT valid in meters, any specially marked space or on the campus walkway system. These permits are available on a first-come, first-serve basis in the parking office only, the sale dates will be announced each year. Employees or students who have already purchased a permit for the year may return their permit and apply the refund towards the specific lot gold permit.
MEDIA: Media permits are available for official media personnel to cover media events/happenings on the University of Idaho campus. Proof of media employment (business card, pay stub etc...) must be submitted prior to being issued a media permit. Media permits are not intended for use by an employee being paid by the university, or for University of Idaho students. Media permits may not be used for personal use. Media permits are valid in meters and timed spaces for 2 hours, and in any regular space in any colored lot with no time restrictions. Media permits are NOT valid in reserved spaces, disability spaces, service/delivery spaces, anywhere on the campus walkway system or any area not designated as a parking space. VENDOR: Vendor permits are intended for work related use by individuals who provide services to the University of Idaho and are not directly employed by the University of Idaho. Proof of employment must be submitted to Parking and Transportation Services prior to receiving the permit. Vendor permits are not valid for individuals who spend all working hours in an office located on campus. Vendor permits are not valid for university employees or students for work related or student/personal use. Vendor permits are valid in the following areas:
- all regular spaces in any colored lot with no time limit
- in designated "Valid Campus Walkway Permit Required" spaces on the campus walkway for 30 minutes
- meters or timed spaces for 2 hours
Vendor permits are NOT valid in service/delivery spaces, reserved spaces, disability spaces and all other areas not designated as a parking space. A separate application for a service or delivery permit is available upon purchase of a vendor permit.
DAYCARE: Daycare permits are complimentary to those who qualify for use and own a valid University of Idaho annual permit at time of purchase. Daycare permits cost $10 if individual does not own a University of Idaho annual permit at time of purchase. Daycare permits are available for purchase by those who have children attending West Park Elementary School, Early Childhood Center or the Child Development Lab. A daycare permit application must be submitted to Parking and Transportation Services prior to receiving the permit. Daycare permits allow 15 minute parking in any lot in any regular colored space. Daycare permits are NOT valid in meters without payment or any specially marked space.
DELIVERY: Annual delivery permits are intended for business use only in university owned or commercially owned vehicles who provide proper justification for frequent delivery access on campus in order to carry out job duties. Those requesting delivery permits must require short-term delivery access for pick-up/drop-off of items. Parking in close proximity to the location of delivery is required due to size of items being delivered, amount of items being delivered or timing of delivery. A delivery permit application must be submitted to Parking and Transportation Services before receiving the permit. Approval by department head is required and justification must be provided for use of an annual delivery permit vs. use of a temporary delivery permit. Delivery permits are NOT valid for student use, personal use, or for attending meetings. Annual delivery permits are valid in the following areas:
- delivery spaces within lots and on the campus walkway for 1 hour
- "Valid Campus Walkway Permit Required" spaces on the campus walkway for 30 minutes
- meters, timed spaces and all regular spaces in any colored lot for 1 hour
Annual delivery permits are NOT valid in service spaces, reserved spaces, disability spaces or any area not designated as a parking space.
DEPARTMENTAL: Departmental permits are available for purchase by University departments only. A departmental permit application must be submitted to the parking office prior to receiving the permit. Departmental permits are intended for short-term parking for use by university employees while attending meetings at a location on campus other than their office or building. Departmental permits are not intended for daily parking, personal use, student use or visitor use and are subject to revocation for continued misuse. Departmental permits are valid in meters and regular spaces in any colored lot for 2.5 hours. Departmental permits are NOT valid in reserved spaces, service/delivery spaces, disability spaces, campus walkway and all other areas not designated as a parking space.
SERVICE: Annual service permits are intended for business use only in university owned or commercially owned vehicles who provide proper justification for frequent service access on campus in order to carry out job duties. Those requesting service permits must be frequent service providers such as: repairmen, vendors or a university employee who requires the use of equipment and materials that are transported in a service vehicle. A service permit application must be submitted to Parking and Transportation Service before receiving the permit. Approval by department head is requried and justification must be provided for use of an annual service permit vs. use of a temporary service permit. Service permits are NOT valid for student use, personal use, or for attending meetings. Annual service permits are valid in the following areas:
- service spaces, regular spaces in any colored lot, meters, timed spaces and "Valid Campus Walkway Permit Required" spaces on the campus walkway for 2 hours
- service spaces for 1 hour
Annual service permits are NOT valid in reserved spaces, disability spaces or any area not designated as a parking space.
SHORT-TERM PERMITS; available in office only
1 - 3 DAY DISABILITY: $1/day, AVAILABLE AT THE STUDENT UNION BUILDING. Temporary disability permits valid for up to 3 days are available for purchase by individuals requiring short-term disability parking on campus. There is a limit of one 1 - 3 day temporary disability permit per academic year. If additional disability parking is required, a temporary disability permit application, with doctors' consent, must be submitted to Parking and Transportation Services. Disability permits are valid in all disability spaces on campus, meters (with no payment), timed spaces (with no time restrictions), and regular spaces in colored lots. Disability permits are not valid in reserved spaces, service/delivery spaces and any area not designated as a parking space.
3 - 90 DAY DISABILITY: $1/day, AVAILABLE AT THE STUDENT UNION BUILDING. Individuals requiring short term disability parking must submit a temporary disability permit application, with doctors' consent to Parking and Transportation Services. 3 - 90 day disability permits are available, inclusive of all weekends and expiring after 90 days consecutive days from issue date. 10 day and 30 day products are also available. The 10 and 30 day options allow the permit holder to enter in dates when parking on campus, this allows for flexible use, instead of using the permit for consecutive days. When the maximum number of days, allowed by physician is reached, a new injury must occur in order to obtain another temporary disability permit. Disability permits are valid in all disability spaces on campus, meters (with no payment), timed spaces (with no time restrictions), and regular spaces in colored lots. Disability permits are not valid in reserved spaces, service/delivery spaces and any area not designated as a parking space.
VISITOR PERMIT: $2/day, AVAILABLE AT STUDENT UNION BUILDING. Visitor permits are intended for use by visitors to campus. Faculty, staff and students are not eligible for visitor permits. Visitor permits are valid in any regular space in any colored lot, unless otherwise stated on permit. Permit is valid only for dates stated on permit. A visitor can request a permit to be valid for consecutive days, or 1 day, 10 day and 30 day visitor permits are available. The 10 day and 30 day products allow the permit holder to enter in dates when parking on campus, this allows for flexible use instead of using permit for consecutive days. Visitor permits are not valid in meters, timed spaces, reserved spaces, service/delivery spaces, campus walkway or any area not designated as a space.
1 and 10 DAY BLUE: $1 and $10 respectively, available for purchase by any University of Idaho faculty, staff, students or frequent visitor. Permit provides parking for 1 day or for a total of 10 days, when all days are utilized permit is invalid. Temporary blue permits are valid in all blue lots on campus. 1 and 10 day permits are available; the 10 day product allows the permit holder to enter in dates when parking on campus, this allows for flexible use instead of using permit for consecutive days. Blue permits are NOT valid in any other colored lot, meters, any specially marked space, or on the campus walkway system.
1 and 10 DAY RED: $3 and $30 respectively, available for purchase by any University of Idaho faculty, staff or student. Permit provides parking for 1 day or for a total of 10 days, when all days are utilized permit is invalid. Temporary red permits are valid in all red and blue parking lots on campus. 1 and 10 day permits are available; the 10 day product allows the permit holder to enter in dates when parking on campus, this allows for flexible use instead of using permit for consecutive days. Red permits are NOT valid in gold, silver, purple or green lots, meters, any specially marked space, or on the campus walkway system.

Permit provides parking for 1 day or for a total of 10 days, when all days are utilized permit is invalid. Temporary gold permits are valid in all gold, red and blue parking lots on campus. 1 and 10 day permits are available; the 10 day product allows the permit holder to enter in dates when parking on campus, this allows for flexible use instead of using permit for consecutive days. Gold permits are NOT valid in meters, any specially marked space or on the campus walkway system.
TEMPORARY DELIVERY: Temporary delivery permits are available at the parking office to individuals requiring delivery access on campus on a case-by-case basis. Temporary delivery permits are valid for dates stamped only and are valid in all designated delivery spaces, meters, timed spaces and regular spaces in any colored lot for 1 hour. Temporary delivery permits are also valid for 30 minutes in designated "Valid Campus Walkway Permit Required" spaces on the campus walkway. Temporary delivery permits are NOT valid in service spaces, reserved spaces, disability spaces or any area not designated as a parking space.
TEMPORARY SERVICE: Temporary service permits are available at the parking office to individuals requiring service access on campus on a case-by-case basis. Temporary service permits are valid for dates stamped only and are valid in service spaces within lots, regular spaces in any colored lot, meters and timed spaces for 2 hours. Temporary service permits are NOT valid in delivery spaces, reserved spaces, disability spaces, anywhere on the campus walkway or any area not designated as a parking space.
LONG-TERM PERMITS; available in office only
OVERNIGHT: Overnight permits are complimentary to those who qualify for use and own a University of Idaho annual permit. Overnight permits cost $10 if individual does not own a University of Idaho annual permit. Overnight permits are intended for use by University of Idaho faculty, staff or students who live off campus and conduct frequent business on campus throughout the entire academic year, between the hours of 2am and 6am. An overnight permit application must be submitted to Parking and Transportation Services prior to receiving the permit. Overnight permits are valid from 2am to 6am in any regular space in any colored lot. If parking after 6am is necessary, a valid University of Idaho annual permit must be displayed. Overnight permits are NOT valid in meters, timed spaces, service/delivery spaces, disability spaces, reserved spaces, campus walkway or any area not designated as a parking space.
EARLY MORNING/ROTC PERMIT: Early morning/ROTC permits are complimentary to those who qualify for use and own a University of Idaho annual permit. Early morning/ROTC permits cost $10 if individual does not own a University of Idaho annual permit. An early morning/ROTC permit application must be submitted to Parking and Transportation Services prior to receiving the permit. Early morning/ROTC permits are only valid from 5am - 7:45am in red or blue lots (excluding red lot 51). Early morning/ROTC permits are NOT valid in gold lots, red lot 51, meters, timed spaces, service/delivery spaces, disability spaces, reserved spaces, campus walkway or any area not designated as a space. If parking after 7:45am is necessary, a valid University of Idaho permit must be displayed.
EARLY MORNING ACTIVITY PERMIT: Early Morning Activity permits are complimentary to those who qualify for use and own a University of Idaho annual permit. Early morning/Master Swim permits cost $10 if individual does not own a University of Idaho annual permit. An Early Morning Activity permit application must be submitted to Parking and Transportation Services prior to receiving the permit. Early morning/Master Swim permits are only valid from 5am - 7:45am in gold, red or blue lots. Early morning/Master Swim permits are NOT valid in meters, timed spaces, service/delivery spaces, disability spaces, reserved spaces, campus walkway or any other area not designated as a space. If parking after 7:45am is necessary, a valid University of Idaho permit must be displayed.
