A 4th dan and a member of the Aikido Association of America Teaching Committee, Christine Dyer emphasizes making Aikido accessible to everyone through teaching efficient movement and precise techniques. Dyer Sensei instructs at Chushinkan Dojo in Buena Park, CA where she trains with and assists James Nakayama, 6th dan, AAA Western Region Director. She will demonstrate, explain, and lead practice in aiki taiso (body movement basics), tai sabaki (strategic positioning), kihon waza (basic techniques), kata (weapons forms), and bokken-tori or jo-tori (weapon taking technique). This seminar conveys the essence of Aikido as embodied in intermediate level techniques taught by AAA founder Fumio Toyoda (1947-2001). Students should bring their own training weapons if possible, specifically jo (short staff) and bokken (wooden sword).
